Deforestation is one of the greatest threats to Earth and to humans.

Stripping the planet of its forests among other ecosystems has a great environmental impact, but also an economic and social one.

Forests play a fundamental role in climate regulation, the maintenance of water sources and flows, in addition to soil conservation.

They help maintain ecological balance and biodiversity, in addition to obtaining from them essential goods and services for our survival (plant and animal food, wood, medicines and many more products) and our industrial development.

Thus, forests contain one of the most valuable ecosystems, since they contain more than 60% of the planet’s biodiversity, and in Spain, they occupy 54% of the total surface of the territory, some 27 million hectares in total.

But currently, the state of forests is affected by poor forest management and this causes, for example, the growth of smaller trees with adaptation problems and limitations, which consequently have an impact on the natural development of forests.

Only in Catalonia, check how the level of CO2 capture from forests has decreased by 17% in 25 years, directly affecting the maintenance of the atmosphere.

For this reason, we must be aware of the importance of sustainable forest management.

Good management of our forests helps to prevent fires, prevent the development of pests and increases the capacity of trees to convert CO2 into wp-content/themes/twentyseventeen-child/single.php oxygen, a function of vital importance to combat climate change.

A healthy forest also regulates the supply of clean water (technically known as “blue water”), helping between 74% and 88% of the rain to filter and not be lost due to interception, thus managing a reduction in stress tree water and increased resources (aquifers, swamps, reservoirs and sources).

Furthermore, it favors the growth of biodiversity and contributes to the livelihood, employment and occupation of many people around the world.
