is one of the greatest threats to Earth and to humans.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Stripping the planet of its forests among other ecosystems has a great environmental impact, but also an economic and social one.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Forests play a fundamental role in climate regulation, the maintenance of water sources and flows, in addition to soil conservation.<\/p>\n<p>They help maintain ecological balance and biodiversity, in addition to obtaining from them essential goods and services for our survival (plant and animal food, wood, medicines and many more products) and our industrial development.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, forests contain one of the most valuable ecosystems, since they contain more than 60% of the planet\u2019s biodiversity, and in Spain, they occupy 54% of the total surface of the territory, some 27 million hectares in total.<\/p>\n<p>But currently, the state of forests is affected by poor forest management and this causes, for example, the growth of smaller trees with adaptation problems and limitations, which consequently have an impact on the natural development of forests.<\/p>\n<p>Only in Catalonia, check how the level of CO2 capture from forests has decreased by 17% in 25 years, directly affecting the maintenance of the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>ORESTIME report of February 2020 elaborated by the Catalan Agency of Canvi Clim\u00e0tic, the center public CREAF and the public consortium CTFC (Center of Science and Forest Technology of Catalonia).<\/p>\n<h5><strong>For this reason, we must be aware of the importance of sustainable forest management.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Good management of our forests helps to prevent fires, prevent the development of pests and increases the capacity of trees to convert CO2 into wp-content\/themes\/twentyseventeen-child\/single.php oxygen, a function of vital importance to combat climate change.<\/p>\n<p>A healthy forest also regulates the supply of clean water (technically known as \u201cblue water\u201d), helping between 74% and 88% of the rain to filter and not be lost due to interception, thus managing a reduction in stress tree water and increased resources (aquifers, swamps, reservoirs and sources).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it favors the growth of biodiversity and contributes to the livelihood, employment and occupation of many people around the world.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>Holistex<\/strong> we believe and collaborate in projects that meet the sustainability and development objectives set by the United Nations (SDG) acting locally, such as the Social Forest project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Forest<\/strong> is a PEFC\u00ae certified <strong>social enterprise<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #4e5b31;\"><a style=\"color: #4e5b31;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pefc.es\/?utm_source=web&amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;utm_campaign=Article%20SocialForest%20June%202020\"><strong>PEFC\u00ae CERTIFIED<\/strong><\/a><\/span>which is dedicated to <strong>sustainable forest management<\/strong> as a tool for <strong>climate change mitigation, reducing<\/strong> the risk of <strong>forest fires<\/strong> and improving the<strong> CO2 fixation<\/strong> capacity of forests.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, take advantage of the opportunity that forests give us to offer work and training to youth in situations of unemployment or risk of social exclusion, where the costs of the health system in treatments for young people with different disorders decrease and, at the same time, happiness and well-being of people in the community and contributes to a balanced and natural country.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of 2020, all the companies of the <strong>Holistex Group<\/strong> (Meroltex, Apreslan, IBQ Fabrics and Dobert) have been in the protection, restoration and sustainable management of forests, carrying out forest improvement and fire prevention work on the <strong>El Dalmau forest estate in the Sant Lloren\u00e7 de Munt i l\u2019Obac Natural Park<\/strong>, owned by the Generalitat.<\/p>\n<p>And second, we help promote decent employment for all, generating work for young <strong>\u201cSocial Foresters\u201c<\/strong>,
